While cash will certainly be welcomed if you can afford it, \u201cyou can also give kindness,\u201d she said, even if it\u2019s simply a verbal acknowledgment of your appreciation. One option may be to offer an in-home service worker extra time off with pay rather than a holiday bonus. That way, you are showing you value them, but you aren\u2019t paying more out of your budget than you normally would. If you\u2019re unsure how that would be received, she said, inquire which they would prefer. \u201cIt\u2019s not rude to ask,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"css-13o6u42 eoo0vm40\" id=\"link-2ff427c2\">Is it OK to tip with a digital payment app?<\/h2>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">Ms. Post said she frowns on giving holiday tips via apps, like Venmo or Cash App. \u201cI would say cash is king,\u201d she said. From an etiquette standpoint, money \u2014 or perhaps a check \u2014 tucked inside a card with a short handwritten note shows your gratitude by making the presentation special, she said.
