Goal
The Colorado Health Service Corps provides loan repayment assistance to certain health care professionals who agree to work in an area of Colorado where there is a shortage of health care professionals.
Winners must agree to perform a 3-year employment contract at an approved location.
Eligibility
Applicants must be employed at an approved location on the first day of the current application period.
Eligible healthcare professions include:
- Physicians in osteopathy or allopathic medicine (general practitioner, geriatrics, general internal medicine, general psychiatry, general child psychiatry, general pediatrics, general obstetrics/gynecology and addiction medicine or pain management)
- Clinical pharmacists (PharmD)
- Dentists (general and pediatric)
- Licensed Clinical or Counseling Psychologists (Ph.D., Psy.D.)
- Licensed Clinical Social Worker (Master’s or Doctoral Degree in Social Work)
- Licensed Professional Counselors (Master’s or Doctoral Degree with a Major in Counseling)
- Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists (Master’s or Doctoral Degree with a Major in Marriage and Family Therapy)
- Certified nurse-midwives
- Nurse specialists
- Nurses with advanced practice and specific training in substance abuse or pain management
- Medical Assistants
- Physician assistants with specific training in substance abuse disorders
- Psychiatric nurses
- Certified addiction counselors
- Certified Addiction Counselors
- Certified dental hygienists
Clinical professionals working in the treatment of substance use disorders may apply if they have completed their clinical training, are actively completing supervised clinical hours toward full licensure, and are a candidate for licensure.

Prices for full-time healthcare professionals:
- $120,000 for doctors and dentists
- $90,000 for physician assistants, advanced practice nurses, clinical pharmacists, licensed mental health providers, dental hygienists, and licensed/certified addiction counselors
Prices for 3/4 healthcare professionals:
- $90,000 for doctors and dentists
- $67,500 for physician assistants, advanced practice nurses, clinical pharmacists, licensed mental health providers, dental hygienists, and licensed/certified addiction counselors
Prices for part-time healthcare professionals:
- $60,000 for doctors and dentists
- $45,000 for physician assistants, advanced practice nurses, clinical pharmacists, licensed mental health providers, dental hygienists, and licensed/certified addiction counselors
